Palazzo Capua, Malta (5*)
Palazzo Capua is
a 200 year old, splendid monument testament of a
bygone age. It is one of the oldest and finest
buildings in Sliema, Malta. Its majestic staircase,
gallery and porticos that surround the palace give
it an exceptional architectural elegance.
Its allure is further enhanced by the historical
romance bound to its past residents, most prominent
among who were the star-crossed residents who gave
it their name, Prince of Capua - Carlo di Borbone,
and his Irish wife Penelope.
His brother, Ferdinand II - King of the Two Sicilies,
subsequently exiled him and confiscated all his
property.
Today, Palazzo Capua has been carefully and
luxuriously restored to its formal glory. It has
been transformed into a charming and elegant venue
for medium-sized conferences and receptions and as a
small, all-suite hotel.
This architecturally-rich, neoclassical palace also
forms an integral part of a larger complex
incorporating conference and accommodation
facilities at The Victoria Hotel (4*) and The Palace
hotel (5*) complex.
